What Is qEEG Brain Mapping?
qEEG stands for quantitative electroencephalography. In plain terms: it's a painless, noninvasive way of measuring your brain's electrical activity and comparing it to normal, healthy patterns.
During a mapping session, small sensors are placed on your scalp to record your brain's activity. That data is then processed and compared against a large normative database, producing a detailed map that shows where your brain may be overactive, underactive, or out of sync in certain regions.
This helps curate a treatment plan specific to your needs and brain activity, providing as personal an approach as possible.

What Working With Re Therapies Feels Like
We make sure you understand what's happening at every step — before, during, and after your brain map. This isn't about handing you a stack of numbers and sending you on your way. It's about giving you real clarity, explained in a way that actually makes sense.
We start with a conversation about what brought you in, walk you through the mapping session itself, and then sit down with you to explain your results in plain language. If next steps make sense — neurofeedback therapy, psychotherapy, or both — we talk through what fits before moving forward.

Because you deserve answers, not more guesswork.
We believe in data-informed care.
Treatment decisions shouldn't be a guessing game. Your brain map gives us real information to build a plan around — one that's grounded in what your brain is actually doing, not assumptions.
We promote real, sustainable change.
A brain map isn't the finish line — it's the starting point. Whatever comes next is built around your results, so the work you do afterward actually targets what needs attention.
qEEG Brain Mapping: Your Questions, Answered
Still have questions about qEEG brain mapping before you book? Here's what we hear most.
It shows where your brain's electrical activity may be overactive, underactive, or out of sync in certain regions, compared against a large normative database of healthy patterns. It's not a diagnosis on its own — it's a data-informed starting point for understanding what's happening and what might help.
No. In order to bill for a qEEG, it would have to be performed by a physician (MD etc.) and be deemed medically necessary for neurological concerns. Re Therapies, PLLC is not set up to support insurance coverage for this service due to these reasons.
You do not need a qEEG brain map prior to beginning neurofeedback, but it is highly recommended. Brain maps allow your clinician to see exactly how your brain is performing at every trainable location, instead of having to infer based off your verbal report and textbook knowledge of brain function. The brain is a very intricate and globally connected organ, meaning that despite general knowledge of where your symptom should be originating from, there may be underlying causes or connections elsewhere that are the source for concern.
You'll get your results on your next appointment.
Yes. It's completely non-invasive — no needles, no electrical stimulation, nothing entering your body. Sensors simply read your brain's existing activity, similar to how a stethoscope reads a heartbeat.
What the Brain Mapping Process Looks Like:
01.
Initial Conversation
We'll talk through what's brought you in and what you're hoping to understand better, so the mapping session is meaningful from the start.
02.
The Mapping Session
Sensors are placed on your scalp to record your brain's activity in a relaxed, comfortable setting. I show you the equipment we will use before starting.
03.
Data Analysis
Your brain activity is compared against normative data to identify patterns worth paying attention to.
04.
Your Results, Explained
We walk you through your results in a way that actually makes sense — no dense clinical jargon, just clarity about what we found and what it means for you.
