Counseling Session Discussion

You may have questions before you book your therapy session; here are a few helpful answer before you start:

  • Your brain is always producing electrical activity, and some patterns help you feel calm, focused and well-rested more than others. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, research-backed approach that helps your brain practice those healthier patterns.

During a session, a few sensors placed on your scalp measure your brainwaves while you watch a screen or listen to sound. When your brain moves toward the target pattern, the image brightens or the audio plays smoothly. When it drifts, the feedback changes. There's nothing to "try" to do. Your brain picks up on the cues and gradually adjusts on its own.

Over repeated sessions, those new patterns become more natural. Many clients use neurofeedback to ease symptoms, sleep and feel better overall, or sharpen focus and performance.

  • Neurofeedback may be the right fit for you if you have found yourself struggling with a variety of adverse mental health symptoms, especially those that have been treatment resistant. Many individuals who opt to engage in neurofeedback have tried medications and talk therapy without success, or are medication averse. Symptoms typically treated by neurofeedback include those that align with diagnoses such as ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. However, anyone can benefit from neurofeedback due to its wide range of applications including stress management, sleep disturbances, or somatic complaints.

  • You do not need a qEEG brain map prior to beginning neurofeedback, but it is highly recommended. Brain maps allow your clinician to see exactly how your brain is performing at every trainable location, instead of having to infer based off your verbal report and textbook knowledge of brain function. The brain is a very intricate and globally connected organ, meaning that despite general knowledge of where your symptom should be originating from, there may be underlying causes or connections elsewhere that are the source for concern.

  • Intake sessions are $175
    qEEG brain maps are $175
Neurofeedback and psychotherapy sessions are $125
    Psychotherapy-only sessions are $100

I am happy to discuss payment plans and prepaid session packages for anyone. Please mention this during your consultation or intake appointment, and we can discuss it together.
